Essential Oils Movie Night & Workshop
Saturday, May 8 at 5:30

Dr. Janine Lex will review many types of essential oils, including their benefits, placement on acupuncture points, and how you can take advantage of this amazing natural healing power for self treatment and treatment of loved ones.

We will screen Young Living's "Raindrop Technique" video, and participate in hands-on activities for direct experience with the oils.

Research shows that when used aromatically, applied topically, or taken internally, therapeutic oils can calm, energize, balance, purity, and rejuvenate the mind and body. Don't miss this great educational experience!

Movie: Ashes and Snow
(date to be announced)

Gregory Colbert has used both still and movie cameras to explore extraordinary interactions between humans and animals. His exhibition, Ashes and Snow, consists of over 50 large-scale photographic artworks, a 60-minute film, and two 9-minute film haikus. This excerpt is entitled Feather to Fire, and is narrated in three languages by Laurence Fishburne (English), Ken Watanabe (Japanese), and Enrique Rocha (Spanish).

More information about Gregory Colbert and Ashes and Snow is available at www.ashesandsnow.com. Ashes and Snow® and Nomadic Museum® are registered trademarks of Gregory Colbert.

Movie: Food, Inc.
(date to be announced)

Documentary filmmaker Robert Kenner uses reports by Fast Food Nation author Eric Schlosser and The Omnivore's Dilemma author Michael Pollan as a springboard to exploring where the food we purchase at the grocery store really comes from, and what it means for the health of future generations.

By exposing the comfortable relationships between business and government, Kenner gradually shines light on the dark underbelly of the American food industry. The USDA and FDA are supposed to protect the public, so why is it that both government regulatory agencies have been complicit in allowing corporations to put profit ahead of consumer health, the American farmer, worker safety, and even the environment?

As chicken breasts get bigger and tomatoes are genetically engineered not to go bad, 73,000 Americans fall ill from powerful new strains of E. coli every year, obesity levels are skyrocketing, and adult diabetes has reached epidemic proportions. Perhaps if the general public knew how corporations use exploited laws and subsidies to create powerful monopolies, the outrage would be enough to make us think more carefully about the food we put into our bodies.

Movie: Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World
Saturday, February 6 at 5:30

After 7000 miles, and 25 hours of footage, "Sweet Misery" reveals one of the most pervasive, insidious forms of corporate negligence in the history of the industrial revolution. The toxic long-term effects of aspartame are often dismissed as a "hoax" by the sweetener industry and at least five other Internet websites. The real footwork, however, unravels something less comforting than a mere "Hoax." "Sweet Misery" is a documentary just released by Sound and Fury Productions.

"Aspartame is inherently, markedly and uniquely unstable in aqueous media" is a quote from the congressional record in 1985, yet it was approved for use in soft drinks and other beverages.

So what happened? Is there credible evidence if you look beyond the smokescreen of corporate medicine? The primary research and interviews have been quite disturbing.

Movie: The Beautiful Truth, The Gerson Cancer Cure
Saturday, March 13 at 5:30

After the unexpected and tragic death of his mother, 15-year old Garrett was spiraling downward and fast. His father withdrew him from school to prevent him from flunking out, after which he was home-taught. Growing up on an Alaskan animal reserve, Garrett’s father recognized his son’s interest in the dietary habits of their animals. That prompted him to assign a book written by Dr. Max Gerson, which maintains that there is a direct link between diet and a cure for cancer. Fascinated and curious, Garrett embarks on a cross-country road trip to investigate the merits of The Gerson Therapy. He meets with scientists, doctors and cancer survivors who reveal how the multi-billion dollar medical industry has made it their mission to dismiss the notion of alternative and natural cures.
